About me

Fitness queen? Absolutely not!

After a quite inactive life, in early 2022 I started strength training with a personal trainer. When I started seeing results, fitness and training became a passion, and I started discovering how fitness and training can improve not only muscle strength but also self-confidence, wellbeing and overall quality of life. Later that year I also started running, and fell in love with it.

But after that, things got complicated.
In the spring of 2023 I got a metatarsal stress fracture, and after that I was diagnosed with osteoporosis.

After the inital devastation and a lot of ifs and buts and inner struggles, I’m now 100% determined to keep living a good life and not let my condition define who I am or how I see myself. I continue to be active, lift weights to build strong muscles and confidence, and instead of running I have walking & hiking plans that I’m very much looking forward to.

On this blog I will continue to share my fitness journey, my progress in the gym, my walks, hikes, travels, and I hope this can give other people like me hope that it’s possible to keep living an active lifestyle – just with some modifications. I can’t control everything that happens to me, but I’m going to focus on the good things and what I can do to live well.

You can read my story on this page.

More about me

I used to be a palliative care nurse but for various reasons I gave up my profession, moved to Ireland, and I’m now working on creating a career related to graphic design.

I enjoy taking photos with my Olympus camera and learning more about photography, and after many years of dabbling with different musical instruments, in 2020 I started learning to play bluegrass guitar, and I’m also learning to play Irish tunes on the concertina – this is a work in progress but I’m getting there!

About this blog and how it’s evolved

I started this blog as a standard personal blog in 2019 when we moved to Ireland, and wrote about bits of life in Ireland, places, shared thoughts and photos. But when the pandemic hit I didn’t have much to say anymore, and the blog slowly went down the drain. In 2022 I decided to do something else with it.

In the autumn the same year, I started using the blog to document my training, as an accountability tool, and to share my fitness journey. I joined a weekly fitness link-up with a great community of other bloggers, and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’ll continue on this road but on this new domain name, and hope to write a bit more frequently. If you’ve enjoyed my photos on the previous blog, I have good news for you – especially now when I don’t run anymore, my camera always comes with me on my walks, and I’ll continue to share my photos here.

What about the old music blog?
If you enjoyed my music posts back in the day, you’re lucky too… I hope. I’m sort of planning to open that old music blog soon, I just don’t know where yet. Stay tuned.
